CREMER Molasses launches CO₂ project
The project is based on CREMER's newly developed liquid feed, MelassemixPlus, produced at its facility in Beilrode, Saxony. Participating farmers feed this to their lactating cows and provide digital proof of this. A verification body then checks the data and issues CO₂ certificates, which are sold primarily within the milk supply chain by brokers. Seventy per cent of the proceeds from the sale of the certificates go back to the farmers. This innovative programme supports dairy farms in achieving their sustainability goals and secures them an attractive financial bonus.
CREMER Melasse and Deutsche Tiernahrung Cremer are collaborating with Concord Agriculture Partners (CAP) on this programme. CAP uses an internationally recognised CO₂ methodology to measure, validate and financially reward reductions in enteric methane emissions (in CO₂ equivalents). These verified savings are converted into tradable CO₂ certificates.
The first dairy farms are already participating with great enthusiasm. If you would like to learn more, please contact our sales team!
